My name is Mariam Hijazi and I was born in Sydney, Australia in 1998. At the age of 3, my family and I moved across the world to what was then a small and little known city - Dubai. We lived there for almost 10 years before moving back to Sydney.

I have been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil in my tiny hands as a toddler. I'd draw illustrations of girls with pretty outfits, and it seemed the fashion side of my drawings interested me at the time. However, though I loved drawing as a child, it wasn't until high school when I started taking my art more seriously. I would sit at my desk and draw almost every single day after school, even sharing my work online. Slowly I developed my skills in graphite pencil drawings, then colour pencil drawings, and eventually moved on to the big wide world of oil painting - what I would call love at first sight.

Once I had finished school, I actually went on to study Dentistry in the Gold Coast. No, I didn't pursue art as a career straight away! I did in fact interview for a Fine Arts degree but felt like it wasn't the right path for me at the time. Although I loved to create art, I was less interested in the academic side to it.

I completed my Masters in Dentistry in 2020 and have been practicing as a general dentist ever since. Despite this, my love for art has never diminished.

In the past 10 years I have delivered art projects for companies such as Nutri-Grain and VISA, and worked on various commissions including novel cover illustrations, personal portraiture and interior design pieces.

I now create original oil paintings and am always experimenting with new subjects. I love creating pieces that are beautiful, timeless, visually pleasing and often a little dreamy.

I am incredibly excited to be sharing my work and can't wait to see how my art evolves and grows!
